Our Medical Advisory Board has been established to overview and support the design, development and clinical applications of cannabis pharmaceuticals. The board holds extensive expertise in the medical, pharmaceutical, biotech and scientific research fields – with a focus on medicinal cannabis clinical research.
Professor Iain McGregor
Iain McGregor is a Professor of Psychopharmacology and Academic Director of the Lambert Initiative for Cannabinoid Therapeutics in the Brain and Mind Centre at the University of Sydney, Australia.
Professor McGregor’s research is focused on the discovery and development of new medications for the treatment of disease. He has published more than 250 scientific papers and attracted more than $50 million in research funding during his career. He also is an inventor on several patents for novel therapeutics that his laboratory has discovered and developed.
Professor McGregor has a strong interest in the area of medicinal cannabis with more than 25 years of experience in cannabinoid research.
Professor Ian Olver
AM, MD, PhD, CMin, FRACP, MRACMA, FAChPM
Professor Olver originally trained as a medical oncologist and bioethicist. He is currently a professorial research fellow in the School of Psychology, Faculty of Health and Medical Science at the University of Adelaide, with research focusing on supportive care in cancer and psycho-oncology. Professor Olver was previously CEO of Cancer Council Australia and Clinical Director of the Royal Adelaide Hospital Cancer Centre. He is immediate past president of the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer and served on the Australian Health Ethics Committee of the NHMRC for 9 years chairing it for the 6 years. To date he has published 315 journal papers, 28 book chapters, and authored 4 books and edited 5 including the MASSCC Textbook of Supportive Care and Survivorship.
AM, PhD, FPS, FACP, MCPA, MSHPA
Professor Andrew McLachlan is a leading Australian pharmacist, academic and researcher with experience in clinical pharmacology and the quality use of medicines. He is Head of School and Dean at the Sydney Pharmacy School, The University of Sydney. Professor McLachlan is the former chair of a human research ethics committee and serves on Australian government committees related to medicines policy, evaluation, regulation and antidoping.
Associate Professor Arman Sabet
MD, FRACP, FAAN
Associate Professor Arman Sabet is a consultant neurologist with fellowship training in clinical neurophysiology and neuromuscular disorders. He is currently head of department of neurology at Gold Coast University hospital and fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. A/Prof Sabet has many years of experience in clinical trials and research in neurosciences as well as a busy clinical practice in Queensland where he is also involved in educational activities at Griffith University School of Medicine.
