Benjamin McVean graduated with a Bachelor of Medical Science in 2019, providing him the framework to develop a sophisticated understanding of the pharmacology and therapeutic effects of cannabinoids, medicinal cannabis and the endocannabinoid system. He is passionate about providing rigorous scientific information and insights to support practitioners and help them make informed decisions surrounding their patients. Having lived in countries where medicinal cannabis is easily accessible, he has seen the therapeutic benefits firsthand for multiple indications. He provides doctors and patients with valuable support to ensure these therapeutic benefits are accessible to Australians.


Damian O Neill
Damian O’Neill

Nurse, GradDip (Mental Health), MBA, Medical Science Liaison

Damian holds a Bachelor of Nursing and a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health as well as a Master of Business (Marketing).

Damian’ early career was in Mental Health, working in Forensic Psychiatry, Mobile Outreach and Homeless support teams, Psychiatric Crisis Teams, counselling and Mobile Outreach Teams. Damian took an interest in the medications his patients were prescribed and began working with Global Pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly where he spent 13 years in sales, marketing and training and development, launching many breakthrough products. Damian has also worked in Senior Sales Roles at German Giant Bayer and Althea.

Damian is currently a Medical Science Liaison at BOD and his role is to ensure the education and appropriate use by prescribers of Bod’s Medicinal Cannabis Products as well as assisting prescribers navigate the TGA access schemes. Damian is passionate about the appropriate use of Medicinal Cannabis after several years of witnessing the benefits it provides to patients and carers.


Dr. Adele Hosseini

PhD, Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Adele Hosseini is a trained pharmacist, with further studies in pharmacokinetics. Dr. Hosseini has over 18 years’ experience leading the delivery of successful clinical trials including first in human pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Dr. Hosseini has also been involved in many aspects of healthcare including academia such as university lecturing, product development within pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device. She is a pioneer in the Australian medicinal cannabis industry-leading Bod Australia’s Scientific Advisory Board and research program. Over the last three years Dr. Hosseini has developed a deep understanding of medicinal cannabis and continues the strategic direction and development of clinical trials and programs for pharmaceutical cannabis for multiple therapeutic indications.


Despina Lord
Despina Lord

BSc (Comp.Med), MHLM, Head of Market Access and Medical Science Liaison

Despina Lord has over 20 years’ experience in healthcare practice, education and marketing working with practitioners and patients to deliver better patient outcomes through collaborative evidence-based practice. Despina is passionate about supporting practitioners with knowledge and insight enabling informed decision making with their patients based on person-centred care principles. As a trained and experienced Medical Herbalist, Naturopath and Nutritionist with extensive experience working with plant medicines including medicinal cannabis, supported with further Health Science qualifications and a Masters of Health Leadership and Management, University of Wollongong, Despina provides valuable support to both practitioners and patients.


Dilara Bahceci
Dr. Dilara Bahceci

PhD, Science Communications Manager

Dr. Bahceci is a cannabinoid pharmacologist and neuroscientist who completed her PhD in 2019 at the University of Sydney, under the supervision of Associate Professor Jonathon Arnold and Professor Iain McGregor. Her research focused on understanding how the endocannabinoid system is altered in epilepsy and in the preclinical development of cannabinoid-based therapeutics for the treatment of both the seizure and behavioural symptoms of childhood epilepsies. She has extensive expertise in the endocannabinoid system and in the pharmacology of both individual cannabinoids and full-spectrum plant extracts. Dilara is also a passionate science communicator and educator.
